true grit
tell you a story I think I will...
a tale of true grit!
and of thoughts that can
cross big rivers as well as small streams -
There lived in the jungle... well, screw the intro, and into the action:
"Come on girl" said Tarzan at once. Lifting her into his arms, he
carried her over the mud. He did not speak again until that night
when they reached a dry clearing.
Then he no longer could restrain himself. "I usually don't go near females" he told her,
"especially not young and lovely ones!"
He new it was dangerous, but later, thought: "Why did I do that? I left the girl there" he repeated to himself,
again and again, as he leapt from vine to limb. Moving deeper into the jungle, away from her...
As a man who who lived on the bare edge of the civilized world, his skills interpreting
an event like this were quite limited.
The next day for no reason, his favorite chimp ran away to the nomad village across the river.
Everyone tried to console Tarzan, and the birds told him, "What makes you so sure this isn't a blessing?"
Many months later the chimp returned, bringing a wonderful gift - giving birth to a boy with a tiny round head
and bright red cheeks.
Tarzan named the boy Gooseberry.
